Early Release for All Grades
 
The District has once again designated a number of days for collaboration. Collaboration time allows staff to work together and plan the best ways to support individual students without requiring additional no-school days. This collaboration time is key to allowing schools to build the networks of support that can help all students achieve our vision of Every Student a Graduate Prepared for a Bright and Successful Future.
 
There are 15 early release dates identified on the calendar for all grades. High schools will provide more information about their early release

It's time to start thinking about Classified Employee of the Year!!..  We have some changes to the procedure this year.  We would like each building site to recommend one person, so each site participates and no site is left out.  From all district sites winners will be chosen.  Look for an email in the next few weeks.

What:  A celebration recognizing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through K-12 student entries of essays, speeches, poetry and art. The theme for this year’s event is “Let us stand up. Let us be a concerned generation.”

When/Where:  1:00-3:30 p.m., Monday, January 15. The MLK March for Justice and Equality begins at 1:00 p.m. this year at the Springfield Justice Center at 230 4th Street, followed by a celebration from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Springfield High School, 875 7th Street.

The Keynote Speakers for this event will be the speech contest winners (to be announced).

Hamlin Students to Return to New School
New Hamlin Hamlin staff and students are starting the new year with a whole new outlook!
 
Hamlin students will begin their break on Friday, December 15 and conclude it on Wednesday, January 3 to give the district and staff time to get moved in.
 
After break, students will receive their official tour of the new school on Thursday, January 4.
 
Families are asked to use the Centennial entrance to drop off and pick up students for the time being, as buses will be using the Moffitt Lane entrance and contractors will be using the L Street entrance. Your patience

The Springfield Public Schools district offices will soon be moving to their new space at 640 A Street in Springfield, just north of City Hall. As previously reported, the district’s Administration Building, located at 525 Mill Street, was declared “seismically unsound” in a 2015 engineer’s report. After considering a number of options, the district determined that renovating a different building was more cost-effective than either bringing the existing building up to code or building a new structure.
