All services are available for FREE to covered current or
former employees and their covered dependents!
What is it?
Think of your doctor's office. Now imagine having a free, full-service healthcare facility right down the street from you. Instead of calling your regular doctor, employees and your families can use the clinic for everything from regular exams to more urgent illness or injuries. Children ages 4 and up can get sports physicals, some vaccinations, and tests for strep, flu and ear infections. Also, because the providers are not limited by quotas and time limits of many regular practices, they can also be reached more easily by phone with questions, urgent prescription needs, etc.
Can we use it like a walk-in urgent care?
No - because of their small staff, they are not able to accommodate walk-in appointments. However, they make every effort to accommodate patient needs, and will often be able to schedule appointments on the same day - something many doctors are not able to do.
Is it really free?
Yes, that's correct. All services are totally free, including most labs, with no copay. Your insurance is not billed. Employees with Benny Cards will find their dollars go farther.
How does it work?
Because we have a self-funded pool, we can pay our providers a set fee, avoiding the profits added on by other providers and insurance companies. The more employees are able to use this clinic, the less we have to pay elsewhere. Also, we believe that people with access to convenient, high-quality healthcare will lead to healthier employees in the long run.
The concept has been in place for years at other organizations with large employee groups, such as 4J, Bethel SD and Lane County. The City of Springfield has seen success with the clinic for a several years, and has agreed to provide additional space to allow expansion of the clinic to district insurees. Having access to our large employee pool is a win-win for them, allowing them to expand the clinic's hours.
Who can use it?
Anyone with district insurance coverage can use this facility, including dependents.
How do I make an appointment?
Half-hour appointments are available by calling 541-242-2816. Same-day appointments are often available. All you have to do is present your Pacific Source insurance card.
Is there any paperwork to fill out?
You will have to fill out a new patient intake form. You can save time by filling it out and bringing it with you when you come.
What kinds of preventive services are available?
The Wellness Center is a great place to get health coaching, help with quitting smoking, medication review, mental health screenings, allergy treatment advice, etc.
What about confidentiality?
All services are completely confidential.
Can I still keep my regular doctor?
You can choose one of our providers as your primary care physician; otherwise, our providers will work with your regular providers as partners in your care.
Who are the providers?
Barbara Bryson and Sarah Aitken, are nurse practitioners with a combined 60+ years of experience. Nurse practitioners are advanced registered nurses who are board-certified to be front-line medical providers, doing just about everything that your family practitioner can do. They can make diagnoses, order tests and prescribe medications. Both Barbara and Sarah are excited to work in this environment where they can work with families and spend more time with each patient. “It’s a gift to me to not have to rush,” says Barbara.
What don't they do?
Work-related injuries are handled by a separate provider (see below).
Lab and diagnostic tests may be ordered and interpreted, but are offered off-site.
Where do I park?
In addition to on-street parking, visitors may park for short periods in the Library's parking lot. There will also be access directly from the new Administration Building. Elevators are available near the library book drop and near the 6th Street entrance, which is very close to the Center.
