Strikes and shutdowns

In Los Angeles, UTLA members took to the picket lines because their schools are starved of resources. In Washington, D.C., President Trump has shut down the government to secure his border wall. Struggling in a ‘strong’ economy

Classified Employee of the Year 2018


Congratulations to Elaine Lessar, long-time administrative secretary at Thurston Middle School, who was selected as this year's Classified Employee of the Year! Thurston Elementary secretary Kathy Laird was the first runner up; Gateways educational assistant Phylicia Bullis was the second runner up.
 

New Administrative Building location

The Springfield Public Schools district offices will soon be moving to their new space at 640 A Street in Springfield, just north of City Hall. As previously reported, the district’s Administration Building, located at 525 Mill Street, was declared “seismically unsound” in a 2015 engineer’s report. After considering a number of options, the district determined that renovating a different building was more cost-effective than either bringing the existing building up to code or building a new structure.
